I’m extremely happy to bring the good news if you’re a man. Hair loss can now be treated. Over the last few years science has clearly established the mechanism of male pattern baldness and has developed some excellent male hair loss treatments which are approved by the FDA. But remember, if you’re a man, hair loss can be treated but you can’t grow hair on a bald head. You need to act fast.

I’m sure you’ve heard of male pattern baldness. For men in the range of 20 to 45 years, 95 percent of thinning hair problems are caused by male pattern baldness. This is known technically as androgenic alopecia and is an inherited condition. In other words you inherit genes that cause male pattern baldness from those in your family who came before you.

Although from long time it has been known that male pattern baldness was genetic the actual mechanism which created their hair loss was not understood at all. Once this mechanism was fully understood it was possible to develop an excellent male hair loss treatment.

The mechanism behind male hair loss which is now understood is this. Those who are genetically predisposed have the male hormone testosterone converted in their bodies into a 2nd hormone called Dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, by enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. It is the DHT that causes the hair loss.

The DHT sticks to the base of hair follicles and, in effect, strangles the hair follicles by limiting the ability of the follicles to take up essential hair nutrients. Because the hair follicles cannot take up sufficient nutrients they thinning and die and there is insufficient reproduction of the hair follicles to replace the dead hair.

Every person loses hair every day. On average person loses around 10,000 hairs each day but these are normally replaced. For those affected by DHT around the hair follicles, more hair will fall out and less will grow. The result is a slow thinning of their hair and an eventual bald spot.

Once all the above was fully understood a successful treatment was possible. The FDA has approved one treatment by the name of minoxidil. Minoxidil is available under a range of product names but not all minoxidil products work the same.

I mentioned the importance of nutrients to the health of hair follicles and the fact that DHT blocks most of the nutrients from getting into the hair follicle. Minoxidil stops DHT from blocking the entry of the nutrients however if there are not sufficient optimum hair nutrients available is not a sufficient treatment.

The very best hair loss treatment on the market uses minoxidil to interrupts the operation of DHT but at the same time it also supplies a wide range of essential hair nutrients as oral supplements. This two-edged approach is far more effective and simple minoxidil on its own.

So remember if you’re a man, baldness is not inevitable. You cannot grow hair on a bald head so it’s important to act fast. The best modern hair loss treatments do work exceptionally well.
