How To Treat Hemorrhoids Quickly
There are different ways that a hemorrhoid can be treated, either at home or in a doctor’s office. People who suffer from chronic problems with hemorrhoids may have to have a surgery. These are not surgeries that will take long in most cases. But to make you feel a bit better we are going to look at a few things that a doctor can do to help out with hemorrhoids.
One procedure that a doctor can perform on an outpatient basis is rubber band ligation. A band is placed around the external hemorrhoid. This acts to cut off the blood supply to hemorrhoid and causes it to shrivel up and eventually fall off on its own. Once the hemorrhoid detaches however, you will need to keep watch to prevent the issues that led to the hemorrhoids in the first place.
Two ways that a hemorrhoid can be physically removed is through hemorrhoidolysis and sclerotherapy. In hemorrhoidolysis, the hemorrhoid is zapped with an electrical current and in sclerotherapy, a substance is injected into the hemorrhoid that causes it to harden and die.
Removal of a hemorrhoid by freezing it off is called cryosurgery. This procedure is believed to have a number of side effects and is therefore infrequently used. Another procedure that was once popular but no longer done with any great frequency is the use of lasers to remove hemorrhoids. As other options become available, these two options are generally not used.
Hemorrhoidectomy is more invasive and are done under anesthesia. There are two types of this surgery. The first one involves the complete removal of hemorrhoidal tissue. However, further research as shown that this surgery may cause incontinence later in life. With a stapled hemorrhoidectomy, the blood flow to hemorrhoids is inhibited by surgically folding the tissue to the dentate line. These two procedures are generally used for difficult cases of internal hemorrhoids.
Recovery from hemorrhoid treatments are not as bad as you fear. Prior to surgery, your doctor will discuss factors such as age, recovery time, etc. An invasive hemorrhoidectomy can take longer to recover from, but any procedure might cause certain discomfort. How to treat hemorrhoids will be a function of your own comfort level as well as the severity of your condition.
For individuals who prefer more natural methods, how to treat hemorrhoids is really a matter of diet and exercise. There are herbal remedies that can be quite effective to get rid of hemorrhoids, but by far, the best way to treat them is ensure that you have a good fiber-rich diet to assist with proper elimination.
