You probably use a moisturizer on your skin every day. There’s nothing wrong with taking care of your skin and there’s so many different skin care products, like moisturizers, available. But you may not be aware that many skin care products contain chemical ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulphate and this includes modern moisturizers. This may risk your health you may be better advised to use a natural moisturizer.

Sodium lauryl sulphate works very well as a degreaser. Mechanics use it to degrease engines and because of its properties it is used in many well known brands of soaps and shampoos, and consumers are becoming more and more aware that finding sodium lauryl sulphate in your shampoos and soaps is not good.

But it’s not nearly so well known that so many big name moisturizers also contain sodium lauryl sulphate, (as well as many of the chemical ingredients) and using these products regularly may cause skin cancer.

The Journal of Investigative Dermatology reported a study done on mice. The researchers were intending to study the effects of caffeine on the mice but as a part of the study the researchers applied a number of commonly available moisturizers to the skin of the mice. And the mice were also given UV radiation to simulate the effects of sunlight as well as having moisturizer replied 5 times a day for 17 weeks.

The moisturizers used in the study all contained sodium lauryl sulphate as well as other chemical and petrochemical ingredients such as mineral oil.

The scientists were surprised to find that the mice who received the moisturizer had an increased risk of skin cancer of 69 percent.

The scientists were interested in this result and decided to rerun the study using a different moisturizer with no sodium lauryl sulphate or mineral oil. And when they did this they discovered that there was no increase in the risk of skin cancer to the mice.

Maybe now you’re starting to see a link between sodium lauryl sulphate and moisturizers and skin cancer and perhaps you’re beginning to consider that you may be better advised to think about purchasing a natural moisturizer next time you’re looking for good anti aging skin care products.

Or maybe you’ve just thrown away the moisturizer you have in the cupboard now.

Unfortunately there is a wide range of chemical ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulphate in so many skin care products including moisturizers. And there are also many petrochemical ingredients such as mineral oil. There are natural ingredients such as the oils from fruits and nuts which are known to be safe and which are also known to be effective at moisturizing the skin but these are rarely used because ingredients such as mineral oil and sodium lauryl sulphate are dramatically cheaper.

And there are some outstanding natural moisturizers on the market. They use ingredients which are known to be safe and will not put you at risk of skin cancer. One company in particular makes an outstanding range of natural skin care products and chances are you’ve never even heard of it. None of their products contain sodium lauryl sulphate or any other known harmful ingredients.

So maybe now you’re beginning to consider throwing away those anti aging skin care products which you may have in the cupboard right now. There are excellent natural skin care products and natural moisturizers available to you which work better than the chemical alternatives and which have no health risks attached.
