What Are the Important Quitting Smoking Benefits?
All smokers know they should stop. Sometimes it’s a question of getting motivated enough to commit to becoming smoke-free. Here’s some quitting smoking benefits to help in the motivation department.
Of course you know that you’ll be healthier if you stop smoking. Smoking causes 90% of lung cancers and is responsible for most cases of bronchitis and chronic emphysema as well. Lung cancer is the quick, painful death. Chronic lung disease is a slow, painful death. You really don’t want to experience either.
The fact is that you can’t smoke without damaging your lungs. No matter what your level of function is now, it would be better if you didn’t smoke. There’s no way around it. If you smoke your lung function is not as good as it would be if you stop smoking. Obviously, breathing is central to life. The better our lungs work, the better off we are.
You will also gain financially when you stop smoking. Let us face the facts. Smoking is an addiction and smokers need to spend money in order to feed this addiction. This money could be put to better use if smokers give up the habit. It is strange but true; by smoking, you are actually spending money to cause harm to your body. Just think what you can do with the money when you stop smoking.
Your psyche will also benefit after you give up cigarettes. Showing the degree of self-control it takes to give up smoking will definitely improve the way you think about yourself.
The quitting smoking benefits will also help your loved ones. They are the ones who inhale secondhand smoke, which is also physically harmful. It goes without saying that you would never want to hurt your loved ones but if you smoke around them, that is exactly what you are doing. This is the plain and simple fact.
Smoking ends up causing you psychological and emotional trauma too. You are committing a suicide slowly while your loved ones are being traumatized by this fact.
In an ideal world, it would be easy to stop smoking and reap these benefits. Unfortunately, as you well know, that’s not the case. However, there are more methods and techniques available today than ever before so the chances of success are better than ever.
