An auto accident can be very traumatic, even when there are no visible injuries. Most people do not think about getting checked if they are not in pain and some injuries do not begin to cause pain until days or weeks after the accident. By then, the pain can be so severe that an individual may be debilitated for a long while. Therefore, it is important to spend some time being checked out by a Daphne chiropractor after an auto accident whether you feel pain or not. By seeing the chiropractor before you experience pain, you can oftentimes avoid the severity of pain that would occur if you waited to go.

When you visit the chiropractor, he will do a complete examination. After a thorough physical examination, the doctor will take x-rays to find any parts of the spine or neck that may have been injured in the accident. This is especially important when an individual has suffered from whiplash because they will often not experience immediate pain, but if it is addressed before it begins to hurt, you will not suffer from long-term debilitating injuries.

Following the physical examination, the doctor will collect information about past injuries that may have been unaddressed. He will also discuss past medical history, exercise regimen and lifestyle. If you are feeling any tingling or numbness in your limbs, it will be important information to give the doctor.

After analyzing all of the information collected, the doctor will create a program plan to relieve pressure from the discs and help the body to heal more quickly. In some cases, the doctor will provide you with exercises and stretches that will keep your muscles from becoming tense and sore.

In order to keep the tissues from swelling, the doctor will usually need to provide care over a period of days or weeks to realign the bones and provide the needed assistance to the body so that it can heal effectively.

If you are involved in an auto accident, visiting a Daphne chiropractor immediately following the incident will help to insure that you do not experience the pain from an injury that may have resulted from the jerking motion and caused your neck or spine to become misaligned.

A San Antonio chiropractor can ease headaches naturally without resorting to drugs or surgery. In most cases, patients do not go to chiropractors for help in handling headaches. But headaches are actually one of the areas where they can be most helpful.

Headaches are very common ailments. Sometimes, the problem might occur continuously for a long period of time. People often use medicines sold in stores to ease up the pain. But this solution is not long term. And worse, this may lead to even more problems as the medicines could cause harmful side effects later.

Chronic headaches are handled holistically. This is one of the advantages of chiropractic program. Chiropractic care can offer natural and a more holistic method in coping headaches. The chiropractic effects are lasting and permanent which is very advantageous to people who suffer from chronic headaches.

Headaches happen for several reasons. These can be due to vascular tissues, muscle tensions, stress, eyestrain and other related ailments. Pain can be either mild or paralyzing. It can be the primary cause or a secondary result of an ailment. It becomes primary if the headache is the main problem. Secondary headaches are brought about by another ailment. The two kinds of headaches that occur often are tension headaches and migraines.

Tension headaches are due to stress in emotions. Injuries can be one of the reasons of this ailment. If a person gets angry for example, his muscles contract. This is a normal reaction which is a part of the flight or fight process that a person goes through.

If tension continuous for a long time then flight or fight reaction may no longer be applicable since muscle tension has not subsided. This can lead to spinal misalignment which further leads to problems in the body and headaches.

Chiropractic therapy employs spine manipulation which is the main form of care. Other therapies used are massage and trigger points. These can greatly ease up muscle tensions that lead to headaches. People that approach San Antonio chiropractor usually feel relieved in an instant after the administration of the therapies. Muscle tension, spine misalignment and nerve irritation are reduced which also minimized headaches.

When you suffer from headache or migraine pain, it can affect your entire life. For relief, consult with your San Antonio chiropractor or get more information by visiting http://www.franklinchiropractic.com/ today.

A herniated disc occurs when the nucleus or soft inside of a disc in the spinal column pushes through a tear in the annulus or tough outer shell of a disc and into the spinal column itself. This irritates the nerves and causes pain. You can get safe herniated disc relief from a Woodland Park chiropractor.

Common Signs And Symptoms Of A Herniated Disc

Pain, tingling or numbness that extends from the buttocks and down one leg is a sign of sciatica. Sciatica is a common symptom of disc herniation. Chiropractic Medicine

In the 1880s, Mr. D. D. Palmer developed the field of chiropractic medicine. This was carried on and developed further by his son, B. J. Palmer. Over the last 100+ years, chiropractic medicine has gone from being outside the mainstream of medicine to being accepted. Doctors are licensed in every state, and while they cannot prescribe medication or perform surgery, they do offer a natural care alternative to conventional medicine. When a patient has a misaligned spine, aka vertebral subluxation, nerve impulses cannot travel freely around the body. This creates disease and pain if left untreated. In addition to relieving symptoms, the doctor encourages all patients to lead lives that promote health. This means eating nutritious foods, getting enough rest and physical activity, as well as not smoking or drinking alcohol excessively.

Typically Used Therapy Modalities

The most commonly used chiropractic therapies are ultrasound, electrical stimulation, soft tissue manipulation and spinal adjustment. One or all of these therapies will be used to further the patient’s healing. Each patient’s therapy is individualized by the chiropractor.

No, It Does Not Hurt

People have incredible imaginations when it comes to what they think an adjustment must feel like. Most often, this imaginary scene includes pain. Thankfully, this is all in the imagination and does not resemble therapy in the least. Spinal adjustment and the other modalities that may be used are not painful. A Woodland Park chiropractor can answer all of your questions and assist you with your herniated disc problem.

An Austin chiropractor can help relieve the nasty symptoms of fibromyalgia. These include stiffness and tenderness of the joints, muscles and tendons, as well as severe pain. This condition is characterized by insomnia, depression, fatigue or anxiety.

There is no certainty as to the cause of fibromyalgia. Researchers have, however, noticed that sufferers have high levels of ‘substance P’, a nerve signal chemical. It has also been observed that people with fibromyalgia often have low levels of the brain chemical, serotonin.

Fibromyalgia is more likely to affect women aged 35 to 55. They are more susceptible to the condition than men, elderly people, or children. In fact, more than 80 percent of people affected are women in the aforementioned age-group. Fibromyalgia can also be linked with diseases such as systemic lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. However, it can develop independently.

The pain can be intensified by noise, mental stress, or a change in climatic conditions. Usually, the pain is extensive and will be experienced on both sides of the body. The chest, arms, neck, shoulders, buttocks and the neck are commonly affected. Even a slight touch on a tender area can cause extreme pain and even muscle spasms.

In recent years, many fibromyalgia sufferers have been getting effective relief from chiropractic care. Because there are so many sensitive areas on the body, sufferers also have relentless neck and back pain, and leg cramps. Chiropractics can often be the solution.

With simple manipulations of the back and neck, a chiropractor can rectify the body’s carriage. After this, the painful symptoms are significantly relieved. Other chiropractic therapies may be used in combination with a spinal manipulation.

Often, fibromyalgia is associated with spinal stenosis. This occurs when the meninges (coverings on the spine) are compressed. A chiropractor can decompress the spine by adjusting the neck and head. In severe cases of fibromyalgia, a patient will probably need more than one session with an Austin chiropractor.

An Austin chiropractor works with many types of patients, such as those suffering from fibromyalgia. You can better understand the components of natural solutions by visiting http://www.meetdrk.com .

Why Should You Visit A Chiropractor?

Doctors of chiropractic have long been looked down upon by mainstream medicine. Described by many as a holistic or an “alternative health” method, chiropractors have recently enjoyed a revival of interest in their field. Many people have discovered the many benefits of using a chiropractor for their health. Regular visits can make everyday life much more enjoyable. Unlike dentists or other specialty healthcare professionals, you get the most benefit from seeing a chiropractor several times a month.

Given the current state of our economy, most people are now concerned about the bottom line. Thankfully seeing a chiropractic doctor is a much more cost-effective route to wellness than other, more traditional forms of medicine. Due to the recent recognition of chiropractic medicine, many insurance companies are covering these services for their members. Whether you have health insurance coverage or not, seeing a chiropractor is much cheaper than seeing a medical physician or dealing with most chronic injuries on your own. Even with multiple visits, the cost of chiropractic care is well under that of other doctors.

Another difference between medical doctors and chiropractic doctors is that chiropractors do not prescribe medicine. We have all heard about the horror stories of chemical dependency. Many traditional doctors are quick to prescribe medication, whereas chiropractors prefer to deal with the root of the problem in a non-invasive way. If you are concerned about living a drug-free life, consider a doctor of chiropractic for your next health condition. Chiropractors spend the time that other doctors do studying pharmacology on topics like natural or holistic medicine.

In addition, seeing a doctor of chiropractic typically deals with a whole host of issues. Unlike going to your primary practitioner for the something like the flu, when you see your chiropractor, the additional benefits can be endless. An adjustment to your spine later and you will find more than just that crick in your neck fixed. It is not uncommon for chiropractic care to help with conditions like tension headaches, poor digestion, and even better breathing. For those people who deal with sinus problems all year long, consider going to a chiropractor for an alignment. The side benefits could be amazing.

Here is a short list of other benefits people have experienced: Ease of breath Improved digestive system Sharper vision Improved circulation Decrease ringing in ears Decreased acne or eczema

It’s unfortunate that chiropractors have been dealing with marginalization for so long. Thankfully the vast majority of the medical community is beginning to come around for their cause. Chiropractors are not only being very successful on their own, but have been invited on staff at many major hospitals.

As the field improves its reputation and the general population begins to shift its focus to their favor, chiropractors will have successful businesses. It might just be the best time ever to find a local chiropractor for a initial consultation. Adding chiropractic treatments to your regular health maintenance routine will benefit many areas of your life.

Traveling and Your Back

Traveling can be rough on your body. Whether you are traveling alone on businessor on your way to a sunny resort with your family, long hours in a car or an airplane can leave you stressed, tired, stiff and sore.

“Prolonged sitting can wreak havoc on your body,” says Dr. Scott Bautch, immediate past president of the American Chiropractic Association’s (ACA) Council on Occupational Health. “Even if you travel in the most comfortable carrier opt to fly first class, certain pressures and forces from awkward positions can result in restricted blood flow. One of the biggest insults to your system from prolonged sitting is the buildup of pressure in the blood vessels in your lower legs. Contracting and relaxing the muscles can help the blood flow properly.”

Dr. Bautch and the ACA suggest the following tips and advice to fight the pains and strains of travel before they occur.

Warm Up, Cool Down and Treat travel as an athletic event. Warm up before settling into a car or plane, and cool down once you reach your destination. Take a brisk walk to stretch your hamstring and calf muscles.

In the Car Adjust the seat so you are as close to the steering wheel as comfortably possible. Your knees should be slightly higher than your hips. Place four fingers behind the back of your thigh closest to your knee. If you cannot easily slide your fingers in and out of that space, you will need to re-adjust your seat. Consider a back support. Using a support behind your back may reduce the risk of low-back strain, pain or injury. The widest part of the support should be between the bottom of your rib cage and your waistline. Exercise your legs while driving to reduce the risk of any swelling, fatigue or discomfort. Open your toes as wide as you can, and count to 10. Count to five while you tighten your calf muscles, then your thigh muscles, then your gluteal muscles. Roll your shoulders forward and back, making sure to keep your hands on the steering wheel and your eyes on the road. To minimize arm and hand tension while driving, hold the steering wheel at approximately 3 o’clock and 7 o’clock, periodically switching to 10 o’clock and 5 o’clock. Do not grip the steering wheel. Instead, tighten and loosen your grip to improve hand circulation and decrease muscle fatigue in the arms, wrists and hands. While always being careful to keep your eyes on the road, vary your focal point while driving to reduce the risk of eye fatigue and tension headaches. Take rest breaks. Never underestimate the potential consequences of fatigue to yourself, your passengers and other drivers. In an Airplane Standup straight and feel the normal “S” curve of your spine. Then use rolled-up pillows or blankets to maintain that curve when you sit in your seat. Tuck a pillow behind your back and just above the beltline and lay another pillow across the gap between your neck and the headrest. If the seat is hollowed from wear, use folded blankets to raise your buttocks a little. Check all bags heavier than 5-10 percent of your body weight. Overhead lifting of any significant amount of weight should be avoided to reduce the risk of pain in the lower back or neck. While lifting your bags, stand right in front of the overhead compartment so the spine is not rotated. Do not lift your bags over your head, or turn or twist your head and neck in the process. When stowing belongings under the seat, do not force the object with an awkward motion using your legs, feet or arms. This may cause muscle strain or spasms in the upper thighs and lower back muscles. Instead, sit in your seat first, and using your hands and feet, gently guide your bags under the seat directly in front of you. While seated, vary your position occasionally to improve circulation and avoid leg cramps. Massage legs and calves. Bring your legs in, and move your knees up and down. Prop your legs up on a book or a bag under your seat. Do not sit directly under the air controls. The draft can increase tension in your neck and shoulder muscles. Safe Travel For Children Always use a car seat in a car when traveling with children below the age of 4 and weighing less than 40 pounds. Ask the airline for their policy on child car seat safety. Car seats for infants and toddlers provide added resistance to turbulent skies, and are safer than the lap of a parent in the event of an unfortunate accident. Make sure the car seat is appropriate for the age and size of the child. A newborn infant requires a different seat than a 3-year-old toddler. Car seats for infants should always face the rear. In this position, the forces and impact of a crash will be spread more evenly along the back and shoulders, providing more protection for the neck. Car seats should always be placed in the back seat of the car-ideally inthe center. This is especially important in cars equipped with airbags. If an air bag becomes deployed, the force could seriously injure or kill a child or infant placed in the front seat. Make sure the car seat is properly secured to the seat of the vehicle and is placed at a 45-degree angle to support the head of the infant or child.
